It's been a while since I've posted. All this time I've been teaching and catching up on life since completing BEST portfolio. For those of you who don't know, the BEST Portfolio is that dreadful CT State Assessment given to all 2nd year teachers. I've passed, thank God, and am now moving on to enjoying teaching Art again, doing new projects with my students and taking on new freelance work. Need something done? Get in contact with me. I'll be glad to help!
May all of you have a happy, healthy holiday! :)

Casting Crowns Rocks!
My friends and I went to go see Casting Crowns this weekend. We got there just in time, and were blessed by the event! We were 7th Row in! We fared the snow and got back home alright... but it was an awesome night!! For those who don't know, they are a Christian band... but they're so much more than that as well. They are just down to earth and real with their music. They took a lot of time to talk to the crowd, and the proceeds of their concert are going out to India to build a water source for a village of people who don't have any close by. Amazing stuff...
Here's their link on Last FM if you want to check them out.

Happy New Year!
While flipping through the stations, debating whether to watch New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest...or the stoic, stone-faced Carson Daly (he used to be a VJ?)...We tried CNN with Anderson Cooper, but we couldn't stand Kathy Griffin. I decided I had a burst of inspiration, and decided to decorate my brand new Moleskine travel journal in a tribal fashion...I'm ecstatic that they have Moleskines in different colors now!!

See if you can find my initials and the NY Giants logo! :)
Happy 2008 to you all! May you find it filled with blessings!

Cards...
...I have to pick up a box of plain blank cards and I was thinking of heading to Barnes and Noble to pick some up, because they're the only place I can think of around here, other than maybe the art supply store that has boxes of art themed cards. However, whenever I go they're always impressionist heavy... Like lots of Monets and Van Goghs...

Not saying I'm not a fan of Monet and Van Gogh...I am, and use them as reference in my classroom a lot... However, I've never seen...like DeKooning Cards...

...or Barnet Newman Cards

...or Duchamp Cards

... maybe that's a good thing?
Then again...I couldn't see myself sending someone a card with Duchamp's "Fountain" on it... I mean...unless it was to thank someone for a terrible gag gift.

Google Christmas

Every season, Google has a new graphic on their search engine that reflects the holiday of the season. It looks like they have
five different graphics counting down towards Christmas.
I love it! They look like little Doozers to me - you know, those little green guys from Fraggle Rock!
One more thing... Yesterday was a really good NY Giants game! The NY Giants won 38-21 against the Buffalo Bills and turned the game around from a 0-14 deficit in the 1st Quarter! They're off to the Playoffs!! Now I gotta find a place to watch the Giants/Patriots game since the NFL Network is hogging it all for their customers...
Merry Christmas to you and your families!

Dark Side of the Rainbow
Recently, I was putzin' around the net and was turned on to the fact that you can actually synch up The Wizard of Oz to Pink Floyd's 1973 album, Dark Side of the Moon.

Intrigued by this phenomenon, I placed Wizard at the top of my Netflix queue and waited for the perfect snow day to try this out....and it works! There are some parts that have a lot of downtime where it doesn't make sense, but then there are key transitions in which the music/movie synch totally makes sense.
In order to do this right you have to have the sound off the movie and not put on the subtitles. I thought I could read the subtitles at the same time as listening to the music, but then the ideas got confused, so it's better to place the TV on mute and watch it as if it were a silent film. It's really quite remarkable. I was reading on Wikipedia that this wasn't planned at all but was merely coincidence.
You be the Judge...let me know what your thoughts are after watching these. They're all posted already on YouTube: My favorite is Part 3 when the Tornado comes...
